ABOUT US

We do a tremendous number of adoptions. But even so, we have to work extra hard for many of our long term animals to find good homes. Some are older, have been with us longer or just aren't considered as cute as some of their younger, more adoptable kennel mates, but they still make terrific, loyal companions. Visit the Tri-Valley or Oakland SPCA to visit some of our long-term cats and dogs.

Long Term Animals / Staff Picks / Club Second Chance

To assure that our long-term residents, animals that have been with us for longer than 60 days, get the attention they deserve, we have identified some that, while we love seeing their furry faces, we'd love even more to see them in their new homes.

Your $100 Feline Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip, a cat carrier and a free New Pet Health Check-Up within one year at our Vet Clinic or two weeks at our participating area vets. Some of our long term cats are eligible for our Paws to Consider program.

The adoption fee for Dogs & Puppies is $225. A canine adoption includes spay/neuter surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip, a free New Pet Health Check-Up within one year at our Veterinary Clinic or within two weeks at a participating area vet. It also includes a series of mandatory training classes. Should you decide to take your training classes elsewhere, we will reimburse the $75 training fee upon receipt of training class completion documentation. Some of our long term dogs also come with a second set of training FREE, after the first set is completed.

Here's how you can help:

  • Interested in adopting? Learn how.
  • Tell every one you know about our goal, and link them to this page: http://www.eastbayspca.org/adoptableanimals/longtermanimals.cfm
  • Identify a particular long-term animal you'd like to support and put together an "Adoption Care Package" or special gift that will go home with them and his or her new family.
  • Just come in and visit with these wonderful companions...and tell everyone how great they are!
  • Donate dog or cat food to help feed our residents at either location.
  • Make a donation in honor of one or more of our long-term residents.
  • Donate a Dog Bed - Keep our dogs cozy during their stay in our shelter.
