ABOUT US

Q. My 8 years old cat has recently started pulling her fur out.  She has completely pulled out all of the fur underneath her front legs, as well as the fur on her stomach.  She is now starting on the front of her legs.  I was thinking it was psychological, like when a bird pulls out it’s feathers, but she has had no changes in her diet or home life, so I can’t figure out what is making her do this.  Any ideas?

A. It sounds as if your cat may be having an allergic reaction. I would schedule an appointment with your veterinarian so they can try to determine if it is a skin problem or a behavioral problem – either way there are treatments available.
