ABOUT US

Q: My aunt's cat is extremely skinny and it eats four times a day but it never seems to gain weight, I was wondering if it has worms or something. The cat doesn't legally belong to my aunt it adopted her and she started feeding it years ago. She doesn't want to pay to take it to the vet to get an exam and I am always pestering her about it, I feel like the cat needs a check up. It is really really skinny!!

A: You are right in thinking that the cat needs a vet exam. It may be something as simple as worms, which is easily treatable. Or something such as a thyroid disorder that may require more diagnostics. Or the cat may be completely normal! Please tell your aunt that if she is feeding the cat then it is now depending on her and she should have it examined by a vet. Our clinic in Oakland offers exams for a very reasonable $38. Their number is 510-569-1606.
