The East Bay SPCA has long realized that the only solution to the plight of homeless pets is not more adoption homes, but affordable, accessible spay and neuter surgery. The East Bay SPCA was one of the first animal welfare organizations in our community to direct that no animal would leave our facility unaltered.
And it works! Since 1998, we have performed over 70,000 surgeries, preventing the birth of hundreds of thousands of unwanted animals, many of whom end up in our community shelters and rescues.
More importantly, since 1997, the number of homeless animals euthanized in Alameda County has decreased by 50%.
The East Bay SPCA has two facilities providing affordable spay and neuter surgery: The Oakland Spay and Neuter Surgery Center and the Tri-Valley Spay and Neuter Surgery Center in Dublin.
